New York Fashion Week Echoes Home Decor Trends

New York Fashion Week Preview (from L to R): Monique Lhuillier, Rachel Roy, Wes Gordon and Tasashi Shoji
New York Fashion week is underway.
In honor of New York fashion week, and just because we love the crossover of design trends, we offer a glimpse into the latest haute couture and with home decor trends. Art is, once again, mirroring art with lovely pairings in unique designs.

The very feminine and appealing design by Gilles Mendel for J. Mendel is echoed the contemporary geometric styling of a rug in the Surya Destinations Collection. The lace in the J. Mendel piece reveals an intricately displayed comfort and style in one stunning design, the same can be said for the Surya rug, of course.

Oscar de la Renta rarely disappoints and this piece from the Spring 2014 collection inspires beauty, color and a freshness of spring. The Loloi Francesca rug conjures the same freshness and beauty with an aqua backdrop and floral pattern that will brighten a room.

Designer Mara Hoffman opted for the bold and bright with her Spring 2014 collection. There is no shortage of color in her designs and much like the Jaipur Traverse collection, she makes a colorful floral pattern turn heads and get noticed. No wallflowers here.

Mary Katrantzou is a visual artist. She plays with shapes, patterns and colors to create images that enhance the look of the piece to be even more than you thought it could be, at first glance. The dress from the Spring 2014 collection is no exception  creating an almost three dimensional texture with the design. The NuLoom Textures collection exhibits the same creative patterns with pieces that enhance a room's style and a design that offers depth and delight.

Valentino forged uniquely nostalgic pieces for his Spring 2014 collection reminiscent of an era stark on style and color. The designs that are attached to that nostalgia call on a boldness and and contrast all the while seeming delicate and demure. The Nourisson Suzani Collection echoes the same boldness with bursts of color set against a teal backdrop. Be entranced florals bursting into bloom.

New York Fashion Week for the Fall 2014 collection is now in full swing. Stay tuned for more intertwining of haute couture and home decor.
