The Couristan company is a home decor specialist in floor covering. Founded by two brothers Basil and George Couri in 1926, the company found its roots as an importer specializing in handmade area rugs from Persia. Even with the onset of the Great Depression, Couristan continued to expand its global importing business to China, India, Smyrna and became the largest importer of Japanese braided rugs.
Today Couristan continues to import handmade rugs from China, India, Nepal and Pakistan. Rug styles in 35 collections range from eclectic eco-friendly to antique-inspired designs. Additionally, a power loomed collection includes more than 35 collections that resemble the beautiful handmade designs, but at a lower cost, creating "affordable luxury" in floor decor.
The Everest Collection includes rugs with a very dense weave and soft finish. With designs that incorporate traditional styles in contemporary settings, this collection is a beautiful showcase of Couristan's power loom collection.

The Natures Elements Collection blends cotton, jute and grass into a hand loomed weave in a beautifully textured design. This flatwoven rug collection is durable, lightweight and has no pile height. The neutral palette makes the collection naturally inviting.

Our showcase of Couristan would not be complete without a nod to its traditional, Persian roots. This rug from the Old World Classics collection is a replica of an ancient pattern recreated with 100% New Zealand wool in a locked-in weave with a crystal-point finish. Beauty has indeed transcended the ages.
